About Buck Lake

Buck Lake is a quiet, primitive hot spring nestled alongside a pristine lake with blue-green, crystal-clear water. Its tranquil setting invites you to soak in natural warmth while surrounded by untouched forest, offering a peaceful retreat among Oregon swimming holes.

Getting There

To reach Buck Lake, start from Estacada and drive 26 miles along Route 224 to the Ripplebrook area. Then follow NF-4631 for 2.4 miles, turn right onto NF-4630 for 0.6 miles, and take the first right to stay on NF. The trailhead coordinates (45.11354, -121.86327) lead you to a small parking area with limited spots. From there, it’s a brief 10-minute hike to the lake.

What to Expect

The hot spring emerges next to the clear lake, where you can relax in warm, soothing water with a view of dense forest and open sky. The atmosphere remains quiet, with few visitors even in summer. As a primitive site, amenities are minimal—expect no developed facilities and prepare for natural terrain.

Tips for Visitors

Summer provides the most comfortable conditions for visiting this remote hot spring. Since parking is limited, arriving early helps avoid congestion. Bring water, sturdy shoes, and be prepared for clothes-optional bathing to fully enjoy this serene Oregon hot spring experience.
