About Eagle Mills

Eagle Mills offers a refreshing cold spring experience set along Posten Kill in New York. This natural spot features clear water cascading into potholes and a large, inviting pool ideal for cooling off on hot summer days. The primitive setting allows you to connect directly with nature amid rugged rock formations.

Getting There

To reach Eagle Mills, drive east on RT 2 to the small community of Eagle Mills, then cross the bridge over Posten Kill. Parking is limited on the right side just after the bridge. From there, a short 10-minute walk leads you across the road and back over the bridge, followed by a descent down a steep, rocky gully on a faint path.

What to Expect

The water here stays cool year-round, with natural potholes and a deep swimming hole perfect for plunging into fresh New York spring water. The atmosphere remains quiet with few visitors, offering peaceful solitude. However, watch your step carefully—there is considerable broken glass in the water, so water shoes are essential for a safe swim.

Tips for Visitors

Visit in summer when the weather is warm and the water is most inviting. Bring sturdy water shoes to protect your feet from glass shards and rough terrain. Parking is limited and the steep trail can be slippery, so wear good hiking shoes and go at a steady pace. There is no fee to enjoy this natural swimming hole, and clothing is optional for those wanting a more free-spirited dip.
