About Picnic Area - Cascadia S. P.

Picnic Area at Cascadia State Park offers a refreshing cold spring experience nestled alongside the river’s edge. This Oregon swimming hole features deep, quiet pools where the cool water invites a calming dip amid lush forest surroundings. The blend of easy access and natural serenity makes it a standout among hot springs in Oregon for those seeking a crisp, invigorating swim.

Getting There

From Sweet Home, take Route 20 east roughly 14 miles to Cascadia State Park. Upon entering the park, keep right toward the day use – picnic area where you’ll find ample parking near the first restrooms. It’s a brief, pleasant 5-minute walk past the restrooms, following a fence downhill until you reach stairs that lead directly to the riverside pools.

What to Expect

The swimming holes are cold, crisp, and pristine, providing a stark contrast to typical warm springs. The atmosphere is peaceful, with few visitors willing to brave the cooler water, so you often find yourself alone or with a small group. Facilities are minimal but sufficient, with nearby restrooms and picnic tables making it an inviting place to relax after a swim.

Tips for Visitors

Visit during summer when the weather allows the cold water to feel refreshing rather than chilling. Bring sturdy footwear for the short walk and sturdy footing on the stairs and rocky riverbank. There may be a day use fee, so check park regulations ahead of time and pack accordingly for a comfortable visit to one of Oregon’s inviting swimming holes.
